Dental Implants

Losing your teeth can have hugely detrimental effect on your confidence and cause significant problems, but dental implants offer a highly effective, permanent way to restore missing teeth.

A dental implant is a small metal post inserted into the jawbone to hold an artificial tooth (or teeth) firmly in place. It is usually made from titanium and is so well tolerated by the body, it eventually fuses with the bone – a process known as osseointegration.

Tooth ImplantsBenefits

Enhanced appearance – losing teeth can cause shrinkage of the jawbone, making your face look older. Dental implants function just like real teeth and prevent this loss of bone volume.

Natural teeth preserved – a dental bridge requires the teeth either side of a gap to be ground down to act as anchors for the crowns that hold the replacement tooth in place. Dental implants often eliminate the need to remove any healthy tooth.

Permanent solution – A denture can fall out at the most inopportune moments, but a dental implant is a long lasting, fixed solution, giving you the freedom to smile freely and eat the foods you love. Implant supported bridges and dentures are other ways to avoid the irritating movement of false teeth.

YOUR IMPLANT JOURNEY

The initial consultation – We explain the benefits of dental implant treatment and how it can work for you. We take all the necessary x-rays, impressions and other data required for diagnosis and treatment planning.

Diagnosis and treatment planning – At this appointment the diagnostic information is discussed and a treatment plan formulated. A CT scan may also be taken, if necessary.

Diagnostic preview and surgical template – A surgical template is made using the diagnostic information for precise placement of the implants and we show you a preview of the final result.

Dental implant placement – During this appointment, we place your dental implants and give you a temporary restoration so you can keep on smiling and your mouth can function effectively, while your dental implants are healing.

Final fit – After the dental implants have fully healed (usually 3-6 months after placement) the final implant supported restorations (either crowns, bridges or dentures) are fitted.

Review – During this follow up appointment, we check you are happy with your implants.

Whatever your implant needs, we have the knowledge, experience and technology to provide the very best treatment.
