A veneer is a thin, tooth-coloured shell that is fixed to the front surface of a tooth to improve the appearance of discoloured, irregularly shaped or damaged teeth. They are usually fitted to the front upper and lower teeth, and made from ceramic, porcelain or a thin plastic resin.

Veneers offer a minimally invasive way to transform a tooth as only a very thin layer of enamel is removed (if any) prior to fitting.

How are veneers fitted?

If necessary, we take off a small amount of enamel so the veneer will fit. Once prepared, impressions are taken of the tooth so a customised, colour matched veneer can be produced. When ready, the veneer is bonded to your tooth using a strong dental adhesive.

Veneers are tough restorations but can break if not treated with a little care. Try not to open anything with your teeth, such as crisp packets, and avoid biting your nails or chewing pencils. Also, keep your teeth clean and see us regularly.
